Q: What is a WDM driver?

A: The Microsoft Windows Driver Model (WDM) specifies a common set of services designed to support kernel-mode streaming of data for video capture, MPEG decoders, audio, DVD, and broadcast devices. WDM drivers are necessary for video capture and recording applications, such as Compro PVR, Cyberlink Power Director, InternVideo WinDVR, and MGI VideoWave.

If you change your graphics board, you need to reinstall the WDM driver and restart you system.

Q: How do I update my WDM driver?

A: The general steps are (a) Download the latest drivers; (b) uninstall any applications that depend on the WDM driver; (c) update the WDM driver; and (d) reinstall all applications.

a. Down load the latest drivers from our web site ( www.comprousa.com/download ).

b. Uninstall Compro PVR or InterVideo WinDVR , if they are already installed.

c. Unpack the contents of the WDM driver to a temporary directory and install the driver by starting the program setup.exe .

d. Reinstall Compro PVR or InterVideo WinDVR as applicable.

e. Restart your computer.

Q: How do I reinstall my display (graphics) driver?

A: Compro PVR and WinDVR depend on both the display and WDM video capture drivers. The WDM driver must be installed after the display driver. Please follow these instructions for updating the

a. Download new WDM and display drivers from www.comprousa.com/downloads and unzip the contents into two separate temporary directories.
b. Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and uninstall WinDVR, Compro PVR and NVIDIA WDM driver, if they are installed.
c. Install the new display driver that you just downloaded.
d. Re-install the WDM driver.
e. Use Device Manager to verify that the drivers are properly installed.
f. Re-install WinDVR or Compro PVR as applicable.
