VideoMate Action USB 2.0 TV Tuner Box FAQs

Q: Why the VideoMate Action cannot be started?

VideoMate Action has to use USB 2.0 in order to function normally. Therefore, your computer needs to have USB 2.0 interface and WinXP SP1 or Win2000 SP4 or above OS installed.

If you are using WindowsXP with SP1, please install file as below in the USB patch folder of installation CD KB822603-x86-ENG.exe You don’t need install this usb patch file if your XP has install SP2 already.

Let's try to unplug VideoMate Action. Then plug VideoMate Action's USB power cable first. After a while, plug in USB cable to another USB port. VideoMate Action has to work on USB 2.0 and need computer to provide 5V and 500mA power. If the USB power is not sufficient, this could happen.

Please check the following environment for individual using.

PC motherboard–
VideoMate Action (including other USB tuner box) has to work on USB 2.0 and needs PC to provide 5V and 500mA power.

Extension Appliance–
If you’re using the USB Hub, please make sure that it did support the USB2.0 standard

Laptop–
In some laptop the USB power is not sufficient, this could happen. Whereas using the Y-Patch power cable could solve some of this case. (For more spec. please try to contact with your laptop vendor)

Step 2.
Please update the video card, sound card and motherboard driver from vendors. Do not use the default drivers from Windows, it may not operate correctly.

Please update the VideoMate Action software from our website.

Please do the Microsoft WindowsUpdates to the latest patch.

Q: Why does my computer restart when using VideoMate Action ?

Please do the Microsoft WindowsUpdates to the latest patch.

If your system is WinXP SP1, you have to install the Windows Hotfix KB822603-x86-ENG.exe which is located on the USB_Patch folder on the installation CD.

VideoMate Action has to work on USB 2.0 and need computer to provide 5V and 500mA power. If the USB power is not sufficient, this could happen.

Q: Why there is no sound?

If you are using Windows XP:

Make sure the audio device is “ USB Audio Device ” in the System Device in Settings of ComproPVR .

Also, you have to select the audio source to be “ WAVE ” in the System Device in Settings of ComproPVR.

Check that the sound is not muted or volume too low in the Windows Volume Control dialog. (Double-click on the speaker icon in the system tray.)

Note: If your system is WinXP SP1, you have to install the Windows Hotfix KB822603-x86-ENG.exe (or other language) which is located on the USB_Patch folder on the installation CD.

If you are using Windows 2000:

First directly connect the speaker to the audio-out (green circle) of VideoMate Action to see if the sound comes out. If so, then the hardware is not defective.

Note: That audio-out is through the Y cable on the SVID (not directly on the box which is Line-In).

Second, make sure the audio device is “ Your Sound Card ” in the System Device in Settings of ComproPVR and connect the external audio patch between the green Audio-Out port on VideoMate Action and the “Line-In” port of your sound card. You have to select the audio source to be “ Line-In ” in the System Device in Settings of ComproPVR.

Third, check that the sound is not muted or volume too low in the Windows Volume Control dialog. (Double-click on the speaker icon in the system tray.)

Sometimes updating the sound card driver from vendor or TV card's driver and application may help as well.

4.
Q: Why can't I record?

ComproPVR needs to use components of Ulead PhotoExplore 8.0 SE. If your computer doesn't have PhotoExplore, ComproPVR will fail to record. Please reinstall Ulead PhotoExplore 8.0 SE from installation CD.

You can't record non-support TV format like PAL system signal records as NTSC format. Please choose the correct TV format.

Note: Ulead PhotoExplore 8.0 SE needs serial number and can't be downloaded from Compro.
